New projects and sweet nothings

So for a while now Tyler has wanted to start a garden. In our last house we didn't exactly have time and we really didn't feel like we were going to be there long enough to be able to reap the benefits of it so we didn't do it.... okay honestly who am I kidding... I do NOT have a green thumb! In fact, I was that kid in school who killed the plant they sent home in the styrofoam cup, and I honestly (as terrible as it is) don't really have a desire to garden.... BUT my handsome husband does! So since we moved to Texas he has been trying to figure out a way to garden. We have been diligently keeping our milk jugs for the last month (yeah we drink a LOT of milk!!)
There is actually 7 milk jugs but the 7th one
got cut up as a demo (you'll see it later!)
and Tyler has been thinking, and plotting, and planning, and today I came home from work to him asking the best place to get dirt and if it was stealing to go take some dirt from the big construction site down the street (is it stealing, I don't know, but he didn't end up getting dirt [or soil, I guess] from there, so we are good!!!) He went and bought seeds and he has been dutifully trying to figure out the best way to plant, and germinate (I don't even know what that word means), and grow our new little vegetables! Wish us {him} luck!!!
That is the 7th milk jug! (like I said, we drink
a lot of milk!! We've only been saving them for
a month!)

Isn't he handsome?? Speaking of handsome, this guy left me a note this week I couldn't pass up sharing! Not only was it super sweet, I giggled about it allllllll morning long!! Thanks for trying babe! :)

Isn't he sweet!! :) I love this husband of mine!!!

Labor Day Fun

Tyler has an aunt and uncle (Laurie and Karl) who live in Houston. For as long as I have known him, he has always talked about their Houston Ranch, and his love of it, and desire to go back. Welllll, we got to go this weekend and let me just tell you... GORGEOUS!! I was literally in awe when we drove up the drive to their ranch. Beautiful brick home (and I'm not even a huge fan of brick), a hand-built (by Karl and some of his sons-in-law) guest house, a barn, and 8+ acres of clear land. Absolutely amazing! Sadly, they are selling it, so this was probably one of the last times we'll get to go, but we made sure to make it a fun weekend!

This is the guest house, but the main house has matches!
Saturday we drove to Galveston and went to the beach... It was a lot of fun. They aren't the best beaches in the world, but we had a blast! Tyler found lots of hermit crabs so we laughed a lot playing with those!!
We rode a ferry over to the beach! So Fun!

There was a lot of seaweed on the beach but it didn't stop us!

Only 3 of the many crabs Ty found!
PC: Chad
Sunday we went to church and had a yummy yummy BBQ! Monday morning it was up early for Tyler to finally live out a dream I think he has had since the womb!! He got to drive Karl's big tractor, mow the lawn (well 8 acres of it), rake it in, bale and buck hay! It took ALL day, the girls went shopping for a little bit, but then we hopped in the truck and giggled while the boys worked!! Tyler came home a very happy man, full of excitement and definitely slept pretty well last night!!
Their property goes all the way back to the trees and then
makes an 'L' shape!

They started mowing Friday night! In the dark!! (Crazies!)

Tyler on the big tractor, Karl on the riding mower.

This is the big scary rake!!

My handsome handsome farmer!! :)

Seriously look at all that land!!

Karl did the baling and Tyler did the bucking!
That machine literally poops out the bails! :)

He loaded upwards of 60 bails!! Each weighing approx. 70lbs!

My tired, but hard working man! He amazes me!!

Hard workers!

guesstimated 60 bales!!

This is Karl saying "I'm done with pictures!!" hehe
To Laurie and Karl, thank you so much for having us!! You home is gorgeous, we had a blast spending the weekend with you and hope to do it again before it gets sold!!

We {finally} went to the Zoo!!

So since we moved to Dallas I have been wanting to go to the Zoo. The fact that it is only like 20 minutes away, only made me want to go more. Needless to say, it took us about 2 months (we finally went last weekend!) to get there.... but my parents were here to go with us so that made it even more fun!!! I love it when my parents are in town!!

So these elephants were just bought by the Zoo from the Circus. They were pretty much in heaven playing in the water!! It was a lot of fun to watch!

Peek-a-boo!

I've never seen a porcupine before!!
I didn't get a picture of the 4 of us together once that weekend (LAME!!) But we had a blast so I guess it's okay!!

We also went and explored the Fort Worth Stockyards! A lot more fun than I thought it was going to be!!! We enjoyed a cowboy town complete with a mechanical bull, a stagecoach ride, a shoot-out, a cattle run, and a yummy steak dinner!!
Tyler was adamant we ride in this stagecoach.. a lifelong dream for him!!

Thanks for coming to play with us mom and dad!!! We love having visitors and getting to explore Dallas!!! Come back soon!!!
